Briefly about Fairland Comfortline Inverter Pumps:

Fairland Comfortline Inverter pool heat pumps are slightly more expensive than classic On/Off heat pumps, but are more energy efficient because they match the output (i.e. the speed) of both the compressor and the fan to the heat demand of the pool water. They switch on/off less frequently and therefore do not generate unnecessary energy losses.

They are mainly designed to operate at average efficiencies of 50%, leading to a high cooling coefficient of performance (COP), low noise levels and ensuring a long pump life.

Certification by TUV Rheinland

Fairland pool heat pumps are certified after testing by the German certification body TUV Rheinland and fully comply with the EU regulations set out in standard EN14511.

High COP, quiet operation

The concept of the cooling coefficient of performance (COP) (Coefficient of Per-formance) requires explanation. This is the ratio of the heating power given out to the power consumed by the pump. For example, if the COP is 8 and the pump draws 1 kW of power, it gives up 8 times the heating power, i.e. 8 kW.
This coefficient is variable and the higher it is, the higher the air temperature and the lower the capacity of the heat pump.

Comfortline Inverter pool heat pumps achieve a COP in the range 11.2 - 5.6 at A260C/W260C/H80% (air / water / relative humidity) and a COP in the range 4.1- 6.2 at A150C /W260C / H70%. These are very favourable parameters to ensure low pool heating costs.

In order to reduce noise and vibration, the heat pump should be placed on the foundation via vibration isolators and, in order to reduce heat loss, especially at lower air temperatures, the piping bringing water from the pool to the pump should be thermally insulated.

Operating principle of Comfortline Inverter heat pumps:

Comfortline Inverter pumps are air pumps, more specifically air/water pumps, and use atmospheric air as the lower source (from which heat is extracted).

These pumps are ‘monoblock’ pumps, i.e. compact pumps that contain all components in a single housing. This makes the installation of the pumps very simple, with the additional investment cost of purchasing PVC mm pipes, fittings and valves and connecting the unit to the pool filtration system.
The low flow resistance of the condenser, i.e. the titanium heat exchanger in which the pool water is heated, makes it possible to use the existing pool filter pump.

Average COP and power consumption

Average COP = 9.5 during the 180-day bathing season, assuming A260C/W260C/H80%.

For the On/Off pump, the coefficient remains constant at COP = 5.0 over the entire 180-day period, while for the Comfortline Inverter pump, after 5 days of water heating (start of season), the coefficient reaches an average COP = 9.5


Average daily power consumption during the 180-day bathing season for a pump with a heating capacity of 12.5 kW, assuming A260C/W260C/H80%.

For the first 5 days after the start of the bathing season, the Comfortline Inverter pump operates at 100% efficiency to heat the water to the set temperature, and for the remaining 175 days it operates at an average efficiency of 50%, covering only the heat losses with an input 35% lower than the nominal output. The On/Off pump, on the other hand, operates continuously at nominal output.



Selecting Comfortline Inverter heat pumps for your swimming pool:

Selection of the appropriate Comfortline Inverter BPNR heat pump is based on the

the volume of the swimming pool, as indicated in the ‘Technical data’ table.

For example, for a pool with a volume of 43 m3 according to the ‘Technical data’ table, the suitable pumps are BPNR13 and BPNR17.

However, the manufacturer recommends always selecting the larger pump model (in the example above it would be BPNCR17). This will allow the pump to run for longer at a lower speed (capacity) bringing the following benefits:

    a significantly higher COP, thereby ensuring at least half the
    pool heating costs compared to On/Off pumps.
    faster heating of the water,
    longer quiet running times,
    longer pump life due to less intensive operation.
